Barbadian writer/filmmaker, Shakirah Bourne, is in production on her latest project, A Caribbean Dream. Written and Directed by Ms. Bourne, the film is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s a Mid-Summer Night’s Dream.
Storyline: Shakespeare’s romantic comedy is re-told in the Caribbean, and brought into the 21st Century, when Theseus and Hippolyta, returning Nationals, come home to Barbados to be married during Crop Over. The island’s early history, folklore, culture and landscape of Fustic House, lends itself perfectly for the mysticism and chaos that ensues the night before the celebrations. Produced by Lynette Eastmond & Melissa Simmonds. Executive Producer Christian Roberts.
